Jij Blijft bij mij – Een greep uit het werk van Maarten van Roozendaal: Maarten van Roozendaal was one of the best cabaret artists of recent decades. His stage ease, awesome voice, great musicality and ingenious lyrics deeply impressed audiences and press. With songs like Don’t Save Me, Christmas in April, Being Faithful and Beautiful, he stole their hearts. His work was awarded several times. Unfortunately, the Netherlands only got to enjoy his incredible talent for a short time; he died young, at the age of 51. With a subtle sense of humour, Maarten once said: ‘Life has no meaning, but I do’. His overwhelming oeuvre testifies to this: like no other, he knew how to celebrate life on stage. Singer Niels van der Gulik and instrumentalist Richard Heijerman play a selection of his work and take a moment to reflect on Maarten: on his songs, lyrics and stories.
