Winter Walk and Cheese Tasting

What a wonderful time for a winter walk and some cheese tasting, as winter begins to loosen its grip and the cheerful songs of birds herald the arrival of spring, nature unveils its exquisite charm. The low-lying sun casts a golden glow upon the reeds, while frost delicately blankets trees and shrubs in a shimmering white layer.

A Haven for Wildlife

Amidst the cold waters of the Kagerplassen, flocks of Eurasian Wigeons, Gadwalls, Tufted Ducks, and Teals find solace, accompanied by large gatherings of Greylag Geese, alongside their Canadian and Barnacle counterparts. Despite a relatively mild winter, the elegant Little Egret still graces the water’s edge, while hares prepare for the mating season, darting and bounding across the meadows. Indeed, a stroll through the countryside during this season is an enchanting experience.

Winter Wander in the Hemmeerpolder

In celebration of nature’s splendor, the Nature Discovery Center, in collaboration with dairy farmer Theo Warmerdam, invites you to join us for a winter walk through the Hemmeerpolder on Sunday, February 25th. Following our exploration, Theo, an esteemed cheese maker, will graciously offer us a glimpse into his cheese-making process, with the opportunity to sample a variety of cheeses.
