Unfortunately\, the Netherlands only got to enjoy his incredible talent for a short time; he died young\, at the age of 51. With a subtle sense of humour\, Maarten once said: ‘Life has no meaning\, but I do’. His overwhelming oeuvre testifies to this: like no other\, he knew how to celebrate life on stage. Singer Niels van der Gulik and instrumentalist Richard Heijerman play a selection of his work and take a moment to reflect on Maarten: on his songs\, lyrics and stories.
